Supercharge Your Business with NotebookLM
Friends,
If you think AI is just about writing blog posts and social media content, think again. The true magic lies in the behind-the-scenes workflow efficiencies. I wrote about NotebookLM a few months ago and confessed that I’m a super nerdy notetaker. I’ve been following Google’s experimental project since its inception. Steven Johnson, one of my favorite non-fiction writers who focuses on innovation, teamed up with Google to develop the product. Johnson is an exceptional writer who has also great reverence for the humanities and that caught my attention. NotebookLM was initially code-named “Project Tailwind” and I signed up early.
Steven’s work and NotebookLM lead me to Tiago Forte—the author of Building a Second Brain—which takes a deep dive into note taking and optimizing your digital life. Then, I quickly discovered that the app is so much more than just note taking. I learned how to upload contracts, leases, operating agreements, and more. NotebookLM will even provide potential risks that an agreement might present. It also does an amazing job at summarizing complex topics and protocols like Robert's Rules of Order. I use the app equally in my personal and professional life and it has become one of the most valuable tools in my toolbox. In fact, I’ll be teaching a class on how to use NotebookLM for real estate professionals next week at The Group. There are a ton of use cases in the industry.
Google has just added a few new features.
NotebookLM now supports Google Slides and websites.
NotebookLM now includes inline citations that take you directly to the supporting passage in your source. This is a fantastic addition.
NotebookLM now includes a “Notebook Guide” feature that lets you generate FAQs, study guides, tables of contents, timelines (which have been very helpful researching the Max Creek book I’m writing), and briefing docs. Here’s a screenshot.
Here’s a video clip of Steven Johnson and Walter Isaacson discussing the platform.
