Max Creek just hits different.
I was sixteen years old the first time I ever saw the band live. The show changed my life. Seriously. I saw the band every Wednesday night throughout high school and I’ve been a lifelong fan ever since. With that said, I have some exciting news to share. I am writing the Max Creek biography!
Creek is a legendary New England rock band that has been around for five decades. Five. Frigging. Decades. The world is truly a better place with Max Creek in it and I’m thrilled to share their story. It’s truly a dream project for me, and I had the wonderful opportunity to make the formal announcement on my favorite podcast, Hooked on Creek.
In my conversation with Korre Johnson, the host of the podcast, we talked about my journey discovering the band, the legendary Living Room in Providence, the book's theme, my research process, and my all-time favorite Creek song, Emerald Eyes. You can check the episode here.
Last year, I caught the band's two-night performance at Ophelia's Electric Soapbox in Denver, and the energy blew me away. Here are some photos from the shows.
It was the first time I had seen them live in some years and to be quite honest, I never thought I’d get to see them again. It was a special weekend. Not to sound dramatic, but it’s important to me that the band’s legacy is preserved for future generations and the opportunity to write the book is simply a beautiful stroke of serendipity.
I’m currently immersed in my research and writing feverishly, but I don't have a definitive completion date for the book yet. However, I’m excited to share my progress with you. Stay tuned for more updates!
